Factory Outlets?
By
How come factory outlets are cheaper? For example, the Jersey Gardens, how come the branded stuff there are cheaper compared to the malls? There are also branded stuff in stores like Ross, TJ Maxx, Target. How come these places sell cheaper stuff? Thanks!

a lot of the items in outlets or in stores like ross and marshalls are styles from last year’s season of the same season we are currently in so the items look current even though they are not. They also get basic items that nice brands always make at inexpensive prices when the supplier over produces for their higher end stores that carry them. Also, many of the items are defective in some way that the consumer wouldn’t notice but that a buyer for a nicer store would notice, such as uneven seams or some other small defect. Target has nicer clothing for less because they hire designers such as Isaac Mazirah (sp?) to create inexpensive lines geared directly toward their customer who wants to find a bargain but get nice clothing. Outlets such as Off Fifth from Saks Fifth Avenue is so inexpensive because it sells the clothing that the actual Saks Fifth Avenue stores could not sell out of or were over stocked in.

Discontinued stock or over stocked items usually go to the factory outlet stores

because they get it in bulk and thats the only thing they sell at the store. for example the nautica store at jersey gardens. they only sell nautica stuff. while on the other hand a store like macys does not only sell nautica stuff it sells other brand too. So the outlets get their merchendise at a cheaper price than those other departmental stores.

Everything you see in factory outlets are last year’s items so they come with discount prices

Some of the products are last years models, some of the products are irregular and have slight flaws, some of the products are overruns.
